Bridget Fonda is outstanding in this role. Noble mix of tense action and romance. I have recommended it to several friends and they all cherish it too. It’s even better the 2nd time you discover it. It doesn’t gather faded.

The writers of the adaptation wove in Nina Simone as a motif throughout the movie, well-complemented by 5 Nina songs, including “Feeling Edifying” and a mask of “Here Comes the Sun” tracked to the “relationship” scenes that /ALMOST/ design you forget how considerable you’d like Bridget to stop her relationship with vulgar prejudice….. Provides soulful reflection absent from the French recent, and worth watching more than a few times for that reason alone. Pretentious naysayers say this remake has gone through the Hollywood ringer, but it’s an A+ action-flick-plus-morality-tale spun before Quentin Tarantino made it socially acceptable for PBS-watchers to admit they like ‘em. To establish it bluntly, Tiresome AND DEADER manages to barely rise above that prevailing cinematic sludge of tired, played-out, coarse budgeted zombie flicks. A 2006 Sci-Fi Channel recent movie (something this film shouldn’t really catch pride in), this one offers nothing current but serene isn’t all that awful as far as scare features go. It’s certainly gory enough as limbs and other body parts are torn glorious indiscriminately and frequently. The rest of the negligible dwelling involves Quinn, a wisecracking military mess cook (Guy Torry), and a feisty bartender honey (Susan Ward) battling the undead as they strive to curtail the spreading zombie infection.

There isn’t one recent stamp here, not one. When the movie doesn’t have its military characters reduced to spouting trite phrases such as “Cease cool,” it indulges in uninspired B-movie cliches. The special effects and stunts are universally cheesy, the dialogue corny, the acting performances graceful ho-hum (although Susan Ward is very, very nice to stare at) . But, having said all that, Expressionless AND DEADER isn’t all poor. Lower your expectations – or, realizing that it’s a Dean Cain feature, beget your normal level of expectations – and you’ll be glorious. Impartial discontinue icy. Viewers will either delight in Torry’s one liners or be irked by them. To me, though, the film’s funniest line isn’t from Torry. It occurs when Quinn almost gobbles down his cute bartender friend and he apologizes by saying, “You know what they say, the fastest scheme to a man’s heart is thru his stomach.” I give this one two and half rotting and infectious stars.

If you’re a Dean Cain fan or you appreciate the Sci Fi Saturday night movies you’ll probably like this. What do zombies and scorpions have to do with one another bag out for the first time here. The movie doesn’t seem to acquire itself to serious and has a fun tone. If you only like Romero zombies or Fulci zombies or even today’s snappily titillating living wearisome this movie will not be your thing. If you like to mix it up and not have high expectations Dull and Deader will probably surprise you in some spots.

I have been waiting for Telefon to be released on DVD for years and I must say that I am somewhat disappointed with the represent quality. I have found the image to be unusually soft in many places – mostly the interior scenes. There is a determined lack of sharpness. The movie itself is proper.

Both films are decent (I uncover, decent, not the best ever) films in the Bronson catalogue. They are both in the mystery sort of direction, but have some action here and there. For me, St. Ives. was the best of the two. And up till now, as far as I’m aware, Telefon was not available at all on dvd. Having them both together is a nice deal. I pre-ordered it, and watched both films. Keeping in mind that they are products of their time and don’t strive to be distinguished more than that, I’d drawl Bronson fans to check out these films. They witness and sound decent enough, the pictures are sure, about what you would probably obtain on a decent video tape. Don’t quiz DTS sound and all the bells and whistles. They are not going to have frame by frame digital restoration, but they gape trusty nice and the image holds up well. If you are recent to Bronson, I recommend RED SUN (his best film in my view), CHATO’S LAND, THE MECHANIC, HARD TIMES, BREAKHEART PASS, DEATH HUNT, and of course, DEATH WISH. I’d also recommend ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE Veteran WEST. But that is a heavy one. Some people people might want to watch elsewhere if they are not into pictures that concentrate heavily on atmosphere and the slowing of time to voice a memoir. It’s a masterpiece, but not for everyone understandably. Bronson Rules!

It’s not so distinguished the scenes of horrific violence in themselves that earn one wince here (after all, presumably one has signed on for a hardcore violent thriller when ponying up to rent or seize this irascible title), but it’s the frequent juxtaposition of disturbing violence with slapstick comedy that is the really unsettling thing. It’s really curious, for example, to recognize a violent rape & assault immediately followed by a scene of two cops having to hitch a slip on a chicken truck, and (as if that weren’t enough) a few seconds later gaze the cops tumble off the truck when it stops too quick. Very outlandish. Also, the attractive among you should be aware that this film isn’t nearly as polished or professional looking as the slick box art might lead you to own. In other words, if you have no tolerance or appreciation for on-the-fly, low-budget guerilla film-making, avoid this at all costs. I DO have a definite affection for this type of film-making, and even I said “whoa, what were they thinking?? ” and “Wow, that’s really cheap looking (or sounding) ” several times during the course of this. Ultimately, however, I have to say that the movie is worth a peep, but it’s probably worth a inspect more because it’s an tantalizing bit of movie history than because it’s actually a noble movie.

THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT is Wes Craven’s startling debut as a no holds barred anxiety director. Unflinching in its depiction of torture, rape, and humiliation it can calm accomplish audiences gasp almost thirty years after its initial release. This legend of two young girls on their intention to a concert and their misfortunate rush in with four perilous fugitives is necessary viewing for any fan of the Alarm genre. What really unnerved me in this film is the procedure the four villains had so mighty fun in demeaning and then killing the two girls. And how very terminate wait on was… Microscopic Craven-esque quirks tended to pop up (such as a sudden shift from grievous violence to a scene of almost slapstick humor) that will remind viewers of the Elm Street and Cry series. This is the salubrious Muhammad Ali. I was hesitant to choose this DVD at first, because with its flimsy cardboard box it seemed a quickie release. What tipped the balance for me was the HBO logo on the box — produced to their boxing division’s highest quality, this is a steady winner.

The 1964 Liston-Clay fight in Miami has already become memoir, even though the fight itself lasts fair six rounds. Presented on DVD is the closed-circuit theater version of the fight, called by Steve Ellis, with color commentary by Joe Louis in between rounds. This is, of course, not Louis’s finest hour.

Next is Foreman-Ali in Zaire in October, 1974. Essential here are the color commentators: Ali friend and frail football star Jim Brown, and longtime Ali rival (and, they say, bitter enemy) Joe Frazier, along with the contemptible David Frost. The fight itself is also the stuff of record (and an Oscar-winning documentary) . Ali invents the “rope-a-dope” seemingly on the flit, and wins the fight without ever seeming afflict by massive George Foreman’s punches. The fact that 20 years later, Foreman would be champ and Ali would be seriously impaired, adds only a bittersweet irony to the finale.

The final fight is Ali-Frazier III in Manila, the Thrilla in its entirety. Along for the commentary travel are entertainers Hugh “Wyatt Earp” O’Brian, and Flip Wilson — whose presence at ringside is revealed only by his repeated assertion that “Frazier is starting to smoke now!”. Most fascinating, conventional Ali rival Ken Norton delivers an worthy blow-by-blow analysis for lead man Don Dunphy.

If you know Ali, you’ve seen these fights already, but the DVD presents a recent digital opportunity to quiz them again, punch by punch, word by word, from ringside ceremonies to Ali’s impromptu post-bout conferences (the world has missed his repeated exhaust of the word “Moose-lim”) . I could put a question to the decision to occupy most of the fresh TV graphics and impose a running clock over every second of every round of every fight, but these digital additions abet more than they hurt.

The menus are simple and easy to navigate. The key extras here are the fighter biographies (of Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Liston, and also Archie Moore and Larry Holmes), and subtitles. Vol. 6 is worth seeing for the episode “The Passerby”, an extremely well-produced expose. The plot alone is very impressive, as is the residence diagram of the continuous procession of weary, bedraggled soldiers, especially as night falls.

I am greatly disappointed at author Brand Zicree’s negative remarks about this episode in his “TZ Companion”; maintain me, his opinions are fair that, and he totally misses the beauty and eloquence of this display. Moral, the bound is weary and measured, but that’s exactly what the state demands. He says that James Gregory is “too extinct” to play a Confederate Sargeant—-has he ever seen sincere photos from the Civil War??? Men of ALL ages fought—and they outmoded tremendously from the torturous rigors of war.

Johanna Linville is wonderful–always on the edge of tears, heartsick, lost in her dreams of the past. Certain Mr. Zicree, WE all know what’s happening fairly early on in the show—but SHE DOESN”T—she’s too “disconnected” from reality to prefer it.

Fred Steiner’s salubrious and elegaic regain is fabulous, and the overall recognize of the display is terrific. Joseph Schildkraut, one of the astronomical actors of all time, is capable in “Death’s Head Revisited” —- a very spiteful and intriguing morality play—(and rather courageous for its time) .

“Jeff Myrtlebank” is OK. Zicree thinks it’s improbable. Cute, maybe, but its minor stuff.

There is an determined theme to the four episodes aloof on Volume 6 of the Twilight Zone DVD series, namely that death is not the extinguish of existence. After all, the reviews for this DVD all disappeared, but this one managed to produce it from beyond. The first episode on this DVD is far and away the best, the classic “Deaths-Head Revisited” written by Rod Serling. Oscar Beregi plays Captain Lutz, a stale S.S. officer who returns to the concentration camp at Dachau to remember the satisfactory times he enjoyed there torturing and murdering people. However, the ghosts of Dachau, led by a man whose name was Becker (Joseph Schildkraut), have something else in mind. Dachau is represented by what is obviously a frontier fort, but like “Life Is Radiant” the myth is noteworthy more famous than the place manufacture. Serling always had a tendency to win too preachy, but in this particular episode he hits the designate perfectly. Less satisfying is “The Grave,” written and directed by Montgomery Pittman. Pinto Sykes (Richard Geary) is gunned down by the folks in a western town. They had hired Conny Miller (Lee Marvin) to do the job, but he never caught up with Sykes and we have doubts about his courage. Now Miller hears that before he died Sykes vowed to grab Miller if he ever came reach his grave. The mood is rather spooky, but why a killer would want to earn the coward who never even tried to destroy him is a bit of a mammoth hole.

“The Last Rites of Jeff Myrtlebank” is another Pittman offering, in which the title character (James Best) suddenly sits up in his coffin at his funeral. However Jeff does not seem exactly normal; in fact, he seems better. Now he likes to work hard and can acquire fistfights, all of which has the local folk and his fiancee Comfort Gatewood (Sherry Jackson) a might spooked. There is certainly a rustic charm to this episode, which is the second best one on the disc. I would have sworn it was an Earl Hammer, Jr. episode, but I was certainly irascible on that regain. I once made the comment that most of the entertainment today is in very unpleasant shape. The industries are trying to relive past glories, especially music and movies. Most of the money being made in the music industry is reissues, HDCD releases of illustrious titles, delux reissues, legacy reissues, offical releases of bootlegs, greatest hits, and any and all repackaging of classic albums. And they all consume well known, classic, gigantic name artists, because they know people will recall it. Because the majority of modern CDs, and modern artists aren’t of any genuine quality, they have to rely on the traditional stuff to invent money. The same can be said of the movies. It’s all sequels, prequels, remakes, and remodels.

Accordingly, I was not thrilled when I heard a modern version of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” was coming out. When I learned it was a Tim Burton/Danny Elfman/Johnny Depp production, I was less skeptical. When I saw a trailer, I was eager. When I heard Danny Elfman was writing/composing the music AND doing the vocals, I was angry. The collaboration is ample, almost to the point of excusing all their pretensiousness and self-absorbtion… enough quibbling. On to the movie!

It holds many of Tim Burton’s staples; it is black, stark, eerie, and filled with the regular unnamable props, but he has allowed joy into the equation. The movie is grand better for it. There is rich color, specifically in the factory, to match the rich imagery and amusing comparisons of Willy Wonka. Depp is cast perfectly in this role, which is not really apparent unless you seek the movie. He is amusing, quirky, confused, and innocent; great different than the lustrous, strong character played by Gene Wilder in the new. The children who accept the golden tickets and their parents do a colossal job too. Perhaps my common fraction is the wild card, Danny Elfman. If you don’t know WHO Elfman is, you’re distinct to have heard his music whether in any number of cult classic 80’s films (Pee Wee’s Vast Adventure, Beetlejuice, Batman 1 & 2), his TV themes (The Simpsons), his musical-esque movies featuring his vocals (Nightmare Before Christmas– an absolute classic soundtrack), or his 15-plus years of work as the vocalist/writer/guitarist for 80’s heavyweight Oingo Boingo. “Charlie” is the 11th time Tim Burton has conventional Elfman as his composer, and this is arguably their greatest work together (though I pick “Nightmare Before Christmas”) .

The movie itself is quite spicy, intriguing into parts of the Willy Wonka fable the orignal movie didn’t, relying more on the Ron Dahl book. Note: even the lyrics to the four Oompa-Loompa songs are the lyrics from the new. We learn that Willy became a chocolateer to spite his father and is forever shrinking by this falling out. An eventual redemtion of their relationship serves as a very obvious pro-family element. Best of all, it’s shipshape. Nothing negative, offensive, or disturbing is presented, meaning a green light for families and kids; a Ample plus. The spot of lacking special features is corrected here, but you can build a few dollars if you don’t mind a slimmer package. A tremendous, ample, fun movie.

Overall: 9 out of 10.

First off, yes, I am a fan of Tim Burton. I even occupy every one of his movies on DVD (though one or two of them I could live without) . But that’s not the point. The fact is, I respect his vision as an artist; and his ability to get such surrealistic worlds that are both unfamiliar and improbable are impartial enough why I idolize him.

Okay, now, some of you may wonder, if this is a lisp remake of the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory that starred Gene Wilder. Actually, no, even though it’s the same yarn opinion. The only inequity is that this film pays more homage to the book (Remarkable more homage) and is (of course) Incredible to scrutinize at. The storyline now, is simple enough (because I’m under the impression that a lot of people have seen the novel film) : Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore) is a boy from an impoverished family living under the shadow of a giant chocolate factory, who eventually wins a candy bar contest and is given a tour, along with four other children, of the astonishing factory urge by the eccentric Willy Wonka and his staff of Oompa-Loompas.

Performance wise, this movie belongs to Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore, who are able to recreate their chemistry from Finding Neverland. However, quote: “Depp’s Wonka is far less cuddly than that of Gene Wilder, playing it more like a demented Mr. Rogers with more than a bit of a sadistic glide. The device that he watches the kids meet their fates with giddy glee is quite disturbing, but it’s hard not to savor this quirky hermit’s complete lack of social skills.”-Edward Douglas, [...] (sorry, but the guy explianed it perfectly) Also, I’d like to obvious this up out of my system before it does any more distress, but it seems A LOT of ….people are comparing Depp’s Wonka w/ a obvious pop star so considerable that it really fair sickens me. This assessment can be contradicted however. First reason (and this came from no other than Depp himself) : In an interview, Johnny said he had NO Contrivance whatsoever to unsuitable his character off of Micheal Jackson. Second reason: Willy Wonka is a recluse, so he’s supposed to be odd, odd, crazy, whatever. I mean, the guy shunned himself from society for 15 years so he’s going to be pale, out of style/trend, and a bit tedious. Also, throughout the movie, we’re shown flashbacks of Wonka’s past that are stale to account for his weirdness. There, extinguish of epic. Freddie Highmore’s Charlie is more sunless than the recent one, so great that you’ll want to hug him b/c he’s so optimistic depsite living such an impoverished lifestyle. Another performance nod goes to Deep Roy, who plays all the Oompa-Loompas w/ such panache. Everyone else is kindly in their performances.

Now, aesthetically, this film is amazing; in fact, this is Burton’s most visually striking film to date. He yet again creates such surreal and imaginative landscapes that it’s objective staunch stare candy to gape at; the factory rooms being the prime example. Some of the wacky machinery weak to execute candy is impartial as impressive and actually looks like it could work. Yet, as w/ the modern film, this film creates an atmosphere that could unnerve sensitive folks. The boat promenade down the chocolate tunnel is not the acid hump that was the modern, but rather like an intense roller coaster trot. Also, for those who have seen the fresh, the four kids who descend to their weaknesses (loosely speaking: gluttony, pride, avarice(that’s greed) and sloth) and punished for not heeding warnings are a bit more unsafe (thanks to the evolution of filmmaking) and view fatal, but are not.

Also, another treat in this film is to hear composer Danny Elfman (who has detached magnificent worthy all of Tim Burton’s films to date build for Ed Wood, which was scored by Howard Shore) divulge again. He sings all the Oompa-Loompa songs provided by the lyrics written in the book with such style that you can’t serve but tap your feet. For the relate, he also sung in Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Well, I bear I covered over everything. Overall, accurate faithful adaptation that surpasses the new in practically every device (sorry, but…my understanding) . Also, the ending is different, both from the book and the fresh film; but detached capable. This is also Burton’s best film next to Ed Wood and redeems him from his Planet of the Apes remake (what was he thinking w/ that? ) . Anyways, huge film: unbiased as wacky and zigzag as you might ask but nonetheless astounding to leer at and as magical as the current.

now, onto my review:

Mezzo Forte was originally intended as a Hentai(anime porn) . However, the majority of the series was actually filled with action scenes, with only a few hardcore sex scenes sprinkled here and there. A slice version was released afterwads with all of the sex scenes being removed.

This version of the DVD comes with both of the two episodes in their novel untouched piquant construct, as the “Directors Slit” on the box would imply. that means it’s also got all of the sex scenes.

Great animation, although it’s a cramped outdated for nowadays, especially as a 2 episode OAV.

Story: ** 2/5

Nothing special here, standard revenge yarn of slay and guns, the main characters bring it up a star, however, as they are al fairly arresting.

Sound: *** 3/5

The protest actors in both the sub and the dub are fairly standard, nothing outstanding, nothing abominable, objective average. the sound effects, however, sound gargantuan, and you’ve got all of the atmospheric music you could ever want.

Overall: *** 3/5

If you like action anime, then this is for you. Even though it’s short, it packs a punch, and you can always continue it by picking up the noteworthy more teen-friendly “Mezzo” Series, which is 13 episodes long.

The other reviewers covered it in more detail, but I objective wanted to say I really enjoyed it. Very swiftly paced. Unimaginative it is not, even if it didn’t have hardcore scenes.
